7018 Matweld Low Hydrogen Electrodes
Matweld 7018 low hydrogen electrodes are designed for welding carbon-manganese and low alloy steels requiring high strength and crack resistance. Their low hydrogen content minimizes the risk of hydrogen-induced cracking, making them suitable for critical applications and joints requiring X-ray quality. These electrodes offer excellent arc characteristics, low spatter, and easy slag removal. Baking at 180°C for 2 hours prior to use is recommended

Matweld E7018-1 Low Hydrogen Welding Electrode
Matweld E7018-1 low hydrogen welding electrodes are a premium choice for welding high-strength carbon-manganese (C-Mn) and low alloy steels where the risk of hydrogen-induced cracking needs to be minimized. These electrodes are ideal for critical applications and joints that require stringent quality control, such as X-ray examination. The basic coating provides excellent all-position welding capabilities (except vertical down), a smooth and stable arc, low spatter, and easy slag detachment. The resulting weld bead exhibits an excellent profile and appearance. For optimal performance and to maintain their low hydrogen properties, these electrodes require a minimum AC open circuit voltage of 70V and must be baked at 180°C (350°F) for 2 hours before use. Â
Key Features:
- E7018-1 Classification: Indicates a low hydrogen electrode with a tensile strength of 70,000 psi, suitable for all welding positions (except vertical down), and a specific type of coating.
